Vote correct or don't vote at all

As people prepare to go out and vote today, or on any other election day, keep in mind what you are voting for and who you are voting for.

Just because a candidate has the most signs polluting the streets trying to hypnotize you into remembering their name when you hit the polls doesn't mean they care for you. A candidate having the biggest sign with their mug plastered on it doesn't tell you about their political platform or political agenda.

And if you hear or see a political ad trashing their opponent or name calling, is this really who you want to vote for

"Hey, I rock, this other candidate sucks and is an idiot. Vote for me!"

Putting your phone number on an automatic dialer saying "Vote for Such-and-Such, they care about your neighborhood" says nothing about "Such-and-Such" track record on supporting your neighborhood.

Just because I have the right to drink alcohol doesn't mean it's good for me to drink a bottle of vodka when a sip of beer gets me drunk! So just because I have the right to vote doesn't mean it's good for me to vote for the candidate with the most signs around the neighborhood or the biggest cutest sign.

Know the Candidate. Know their political platform, and vote for righteousness. If you can't do that, don't vote! Otherwise you may be thinking you are sipping on beer, but you might be actually gulping down vodka in a big pretty bottle.

Facebook: The home of your Future Philosophers, Evangelist, Video Jockeys and more...

As society gets more engulfed in the social network age, I had to comment on this.

Is it just me, or did Facebook birth millions of philosophers, evangelist, Video Jockeys, personal life coaches and everything under the sun overnight!

I mean these Facebook status updates are getting out of hand. It's like everyone knows the secret to salvation for your soul. Everyone has the "perfect" video for you to watch. And I can't forget about the "Support my cause: 'cats right to poop on anyone's lawn.'" Well, I guess cats have rights too....right?

Yes, the pictures of your 2 day old daughter looks cute...all 83 of them that you posted. I'll make sure I click the "like" button on every single one.

You got the Pro race people too, "Stay black bro!." Like I have a choice.

"Do you remember this jam by such-and-such, check out the video." Great, now that stupid song is stuck in my head...ALL DAY!

And congrats to your son who scored the winning touch-down last night. WHOOP-DI-DOOO (by the way, I'll be sharing a link of my son playing basketball at the end of this blog.)

"The key to choosing a wife is..." Hold up bro! How long have YOU been married. Oh, divorced 3 times. I'll pass on your advice buddy.

"God is awesome!!! Repost this in your status or you suck and you hate God and you're going to hell!" REALLY! LOL!

And what's with these acronyms anyway! LOL, ROTFL, SMH. Are we so lazy we can't type out our thoughts all the way:

Husband: Hi honey, I love you, give me a hug

Wife: Open bracket open bracket closed bracket closed bracket.

Husband: What is all that gibberish you're speaking. Give me a hug woman!

OH Oh oh, if I ignored your first 10 invites to play farmville, petville, crimeville or crackville, THEN I DON'T WANT TO PLAY!!!! (What level am I now in Yoville anyways?)

Proposition 8: Who do we rely on to spread what we believe in?

Because of my moral upbringing, my religious faith and my general reasoning for populating the world by natural means, I am against same sex marriages. So how is it that I don’t have a problem with proposition 8 or people who are in or are for same sex marriages? I’ll explain.

Being a United States of America citizen, I realize that we live under the restrictions and freedoms outline in the state and national constitution. If there is a way to defend same sex marriages under the constitution, as well as any other issue that I or anyone may deem as morally or religiously impure, your opposition is not with the proposition. It’s with the constitution itself.

Freedom of speech is covered under the constitution. That gives people the right to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. I, by my faith in Christ Jesus, am totally opposed to someone blaspheming the Holy Spirit. But I’m not against freedom of speech.

Freedom of religion is covered under the constitution. That gives people the right worship any and everything but the most High God. But I’m not against freedom of religion.

My point is this. I believe what I believe and feel the way I feel. But I’m not going to try to legally prevent someone from doing things they ought not. If I’m against same sex marriage, and I want to do something about it, I should go to my God and pray that he ministers to those who don’t believe what I believe. Or perhaps I should take the time to minister to those individuals myself. Or the unthinkable, lobby to change, amend or restructure the constitution itself to fit my moral or religious beliefs.

But to run to the government to tell it not to uphold the very document it is founded on is ridicules. I mean what’s next, a Jehovah Witnesses sponsored proposition to band the worship of Allah. Or a Christian denomination banning baptizing in the name of the father, son and holy spirit oppose to just baptizing in the name of the Father.

Bottom line, Government is not the instrument to minister to those who are not of our faith or moral beliefs. WE ARE!

Christians and Judging

Because of the content that I might highly blog on, I think it is important to start off with one concerning Christians and judging.

I think there is a lot of misunderstanding and lack of biblical knowledge that comes into play when dealing with this issue. I’ll try to be brief and simple.

Because the word judge has different meanings, I think it is important to understand the context or situation the following type of comments are made:

* “Don’t Judge me.”

* “Who are you to Judge me.”

* “The bible says Christians are not to Judge.”

This is why people misunderstand Matthew 7:1 when Jesus said “Judge not, les ye be judged.” People read this and in error, applied it out of context. If you read this in its proper context, it’s referring to hypocritical judgment.

In John 7:24 , “judge not by appearance, yet judge righteous judgment,” Jesus is referring to and actually mentions “righteous judgment.”

This verse, not in its proper context, would present a contradiction in the bible. No Christian will ever tell you the bible contradicts itself. I believe the bible does not contradict itself. I think the mis-education of the bible renders contradictions. But correctly taught an applied, it does not contradict itself and Christians are not to judge hypocritically, but are to judge righteously.

What can be more righteous then the word of God?

A further study of judging will tell us that we are to judge other Christians and God will judge those who are not Christians.

I think what people are really saying is either:

* Don’t criticize or correct me

* Don’t tell me I’m going to hell for what I’m doing

* Don’t tell me I’m doing something wrong

In other words, they don’t want you to rebuke them. The bible clearly instructs us to rebuke our brothers and sisters when they are living in error of the word of God.

If you live by the word of God, no one will be able to see you to be blamed. Therefore no one will be able to “righteously judge” you.
